This is a book of reference photos and drawings from my favorite painting sites in San Francisco. I made it with the idea of providing a more artistic experience for people who love to color. The drawings are sketches that I would use for the start of a painting and as such are not the usual hard-edge line drawings that you would find in an ordinary coloring book.
The photo below of the flying parrot was taken by my good friend Angela Beske. San Francisco has many flocks of Cherry Head Conures. No one knows exactly how they came to be here, but you can watch a wonderful film about them titled "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill". I courted them with sunflower seeds and now they are regular visitors to my bird feeder. They are the sweetest birds. Very smart and quite personable.
